What are Fuel Levies?

A fuel levy is a surcharge applied over and above your typical transport rates, and the reason why it exists is to cover the variance in the current fuel cost. So rather than just having fixed rates with a client, you would have a rate with them plus a fuel surcharge, which tracks the cost of fuel. When you go to choose your transport management system it's critical it provides this feature to reduce your chances of any revenue leakages from missed charges.

Reducing Revenue Leakages

Within CartonCloud, you can configure first a primary or default fuel levy. Then within each individual customer's rate cards, you can modify the fuel levy. So you can say, "Okay, I want this particular customer to be charged at this fuel levy." You can even go as far as saying that you want particular customers to have a fuel levy, which is a variance against the original fuel levy. If your normal fuel levy is say 8%, you might say, "I want this customer to track my normal fuel levy with an additional 2% charge." And you can configure all of that.
It's very user-friendly to set up, but it's also highly configurable to allow you to charge exactly the correct rate to the right customer so you don't miss out on precious revenue.
