What is Location Efficiency?

In warehousing, one of the most important factors is how and where your stock is located. If you've got fast-moving products, having them in locations which are easy to access can save you hours and hours in your day over having slow-moving products in your most efficient locations.

This is a crucial process that you need to make sure the warehouse management system you use supports by offering multiple features to be able to offer additional value in your stock management.

Quicker Picking & Packing

Within CartonCloud you can configure the efficiency of every different warehouse location that you create, so you can specify that particular locations such as those close to where your packing bays are, are highly efficient, while those up really high or in the back corner are much less efficient.

CartonCloud then takes this into account when it's determining which stock to go and pick from, by always trying to send you to the most efficient stock that's available. This makes it much, much faster to pick and pack your orders as you're not spending time wandering all the way to the back of the warehouse to find products that you could have gotten from the front near your packing bays.

Storing Many per Location?

Storage in our warehouse management system is really flexible. You can actually have a location storing multiple different products at one time. You can even have a location storing products from different customers at the same time. This is useful if you're really tight on space and have just a few items coming in from a client that need to go somewhere within your warehouse

Making Logistics Easy

Rather than having to run around trying to find an empty location, you can just put them on the same pallet spot as an existing product and CartonCloud will handle the storage charges and the traceability of the stock completely automatically. It will warn you that where you're putting the stock is not an empty location, but it certainly won't prevent you because this is something that's common practice in the small to medium 3PL industry.
