What are Rate Cards?

Rate cards are used within (3PL) Third Party Logistics companies to calculate charges for their clients. You'll typically have a bunch of different clients and each of those clients will have completely different ways in which they're charged for storage, pick and pack, delivery etc.
When that occurs and you're doing everything using paper or using Excel spreadsheets, this just adds another layer of complexity to your business as you now have to calculate each individual client rate differently. You have to use different Excel formulas or different ways of charging storage and pick pack, leading to a lot of admin work.

CartonCloud allows you to define different rate cards and different charging methods for each of your clients. So you might have one client who was charged based on how many pallet spaces they are occupying. Then another client who is charged based on the total weight of everything that they've got stored. You might even have a client who is charged for some of their products based on how many they've got in storage and for another product based on the total volume that it takes up.
Having an automated rate calculation and invoicing feature is critical for any transport management system or warehouse management system.

Benefits of Using CartonCloud

You can build these rate cards and just automate all of the calculations and invoicing. So at the end of the week, when your invoicing runs and calculates all the charges, the picking, the packing, the storage for every job that occurred that previous week, it's completely automated.
It runs through everything, calculates all of the rates and builds the invoice, without you having to do any of that manual work that you would have had to do before. Plus, you won't make any mistakes because, provided your rates have been loaded in correctly, what the system calculates will always be exactly what you'd expect based on the entered data.
