D & E Freight Service On Track For More Success With CartonCloud V2

We talk to D & E Freight Service owner-operator Emma Pebble about their journey migrating to version 2 of CartonCloud. The new platform greatly increases consignment information and includes a far more powerful and flexible rating engine to calculate more complex rates.

When Emma Peeble from Mt Isa’s D & E Freight Service first made the switch to CartonCloud in 2018, the impact on their business was transformative.

With more time to focus on the business and less time spent on the paperwork, Emma was able to get out from behind the wheel and focus on customer service and other priorities.

But when the company made the transition to the latest version of CartonCloud - Version 2 - the company’s efficiency went to another level again.

“I act as the traffic controller in the business and the upgrade to Version 2 has freed even more time from administration to focus on the business,” Emma said.

“We went from doing everything by paper to using CartonCloud and then to Version 2. The time savings have been substantial and the level of automation is just the next level again.” 

Like many CartonCloud users, D & E Freight Service was operating in a highly competitive market offering a broad spectrum of freight services throughout the Mount Isa region in north-west Queensland and Northern Territory. 

The locally-owned and operated business is well versed in the requirements and specificities of remote area logistics and with a small team of drivers servicing a large area, keeping track of jobs and invoices is essential.

Version 2 represents a major upgrade to the CartonCloud platform with a number of new features.

The new platform greatly increases consignment information allowing the flexibility to create consignments with whatever information is required including weight, dimensions and load description.

Version 2 also includes a far more powerful and flexible rating engine to calculate more complex rates and a new charging platform that allows tenants to automate more of their charges, saving time, reducing revenue leakage and giving users more flexibility in the way they charge customers. 

Emma believes that while the process of transitioning to Version 2 does require some investment in time, the benefits were clear.

“Before CartonCloud we had a need for a full-time administration person but now I can handle it all myself and with Version 2 we are saving even more time,” she said.
