A core requirement of any 3PL software is automating rate calculations and catering to a wide range of charging methods and situations. Here at CartonCloud, we aim to do just that and provide our customers with a flexible and automated rating solution, whatever their requirements.

This Product Update focuses on further enhancing the warehouse rating system by creating greater control and flexibility to calculate handling charges and introduces a new method for calculating storage charges.

Handling charges enhancement

This Product Update expands on the existing handling charge functionality, allowing you more flexibility to define how you would like your handling charges to calculate for inbound (purchase) and outbound (sale) warehouse orders. This update allows you to specify which Units of Measurement you want to use for charging, any scaling logic to be applied and whether you would like to aggregate handling quantities by product across lines, locations or entire orders.

This enhancement is beneficial if your customers order in one Unit of Measure (such as bottles), but you charge picking fees scaled up to the nearest case. In this scenario, you would configure the bottle charge to consistently scale up to the nearest case and charge in cases.

More storage charge calculation methods

In addition to the range of existing storage charge calculation methods, we have introduced a new way for our customers to calculate storage charges “Per Unit Of Measure”.

This improvement allows you to charge storage based on a product's Unit Of Measure. For example, charging per-carton storage for a product measured in bottles with a conversion to cartons. The number of bottles on each location can be totaled, then scaled up to the nearest carton, and charged storage at a per-carton rate.

With this increased rating flexibility, you will be able to handle an even more comprehensive range of charging scenarios and customer requirements. Moreover, you will be able to achieve all of this without any manual intervention from you or your team!
