What's in store for the future of the logistics industry? This is the second of a quarterly report series to measure sentiment and deliver actionable insights.

We are so excited to announce the results of the second instalment of our CartonCloud Logistics Index (CCLI) are in! The Q2 report maintains high industry optimism for the current economic climate, aligned with expected growth over the coming months — despite slightly lower optimism for hiring than last quarter. Overall, respondents said the economic shifts, government stimulus and changes to business practices resulting from COVID-19 had a neutral or slightly positive net impact on the logistics industry, offsetting adverse effects from business restrictions and border closures. 

This round, we focussed our general interest questions around green logistics and data-driven decision making; with responses reflecting both areas have great potential for innovation and improvement. 

Sentiment Snapshot: 

• Q2 saw a significant drop in hiring expectations compared to Q1 across the industry, impacting the overall industry sentiment index score.
• 75% of respondents had a neutral to a positive outlook on the impact on their business over the next six months.
• 63% of respondents said they used data most or all of the time to inform business and operational decisions.
• There were no respondents who believed their operations were very good at following environmentally friendly practices.

We originally launched the CartonCloud Logistics Index (CCLI) to measure and track sentiment, bringing together data and insights on the forces having an impact on our industry now and in the future.
